What is Karuna
Karuna Reiki® evolved out of Usui and Tibetan Reiki and was developed by William Lee Rand, founder of The International Center for Reiki Training.

At its simplest level, it consists of a series of symbols that contain specific energies which used in various combinations promote a much deeper, lasting and profound healing for the client.

Many Reiki Masters who go on to learn Karuna Reiki® find that it brings in healing energies that are noticeably stronger and more specific, enabling them to facilitate healing for a wider range of conditions.

Origins of Karuna Reiki®
Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in both Hinduism and Buddhism. It is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as "compassionate action."

The essence of Karuna is that of unconditional love and compassion which combined with wisdom, leads to growing enlightenment. Through Karuna, an individual’s ability to heal themselves and others by channelling universal compassion is awakened and develops.

Using Karuna Reiki® and its Benefits

In a Treatment
The energy experienced by the practitioner becomes all encompassing in that the energy flows not just through the arms and body, but all around the outside as well so that it completely surrounds the practitioner on its way to the client. This can be very moving for both client and practitioner and the healing results are more powerful than previously experienced.

For Self-Development
Karuna energy allows you develop compassion for yourself, which can often be challenging. It allows you to resolve those areas where you are holding judgements, criticisms, fears and less than loving thoughts about yourself, others or situations. It helps to harmonise upper and lower chakras so that you are better able to manifest wisdom and guidance in daily life.

The universal compassion of Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings that are doing healing work during this time. Therefore as you develop Karuna in yourself, you are able to work more closely with all enlightened beings and discern their wisdom and guidance more easily.

Karuna Reiki® Courses
Karuna Reiki® is divided into 4 levels:

- Karuna Reiki® Practitioner: Level 1 and Level 2
This allows you to give Karuna Reiki® treatments

- Karuna Reiki® Master: Level 1 and Level 2
This allows to treat and teach Karuna Reiki®

Levels and Combinations
Karuna Reiki® Practitioner Levels 1 and 2 can be combined over a weekend or students can learn the levels individually on a one day course.

Karuna Reiki® Master is taught over a three day period and includes Karuna Reiki® Practitioner levels 1 and 2.

Requirements
Karuna Reiki® Practitioner Levels 1 and 2 is open to students who have completed their Reiki Master Practitioner over 6 months ago.

Karuna Reiki® Masters is open to Reiki Master/Teachers who have completed one year of teaching.

Karuna Reiki® Courses are offered as part of the yearly Reiki Course Schedule. However, additional courses can be arranged according to demand.
